Chess Notation
Chess notation is a system used to record and describe the moves made in a game of chess. It allows players to communicate their strategies and analyze games later. The most common form is algebraic notation, where each square on the chessboard is identified by a unique coordinate, combining a letter (a-h) for the file and a number (1-8) for the rank.
In algebraic notation, each move is represented by the piece's initial (e.g., K for king, Q for queen, N for knight, etc.) followed by the destination square. Special symbols indicate captures (x), check (+), and checkmate (#), making it easier to follow the game's progress.
