Algebraic Notation
Algebraic Notation is a standardized way to represent chess moves using letters and numbers. Each piece is identified by an uppercase letter: K for King, Q for Queen, R for Rook, B for Bishop, and N for Knight. The squares on the chessboard are labeled with numbers and letters, with files (columns) labeled a-h and ranks (rows) labeled 1-8.
In this notation, a move is described by the piece's letter followed by the destination square. For example, moving a Knight to the square e5 is written as Ne5. Captures are indicated with an "x," such as Nxe5, while check is denoted with a "+" and checkmate with "#".
