Chef's Uniform
A chef's uniform, often called a chef's coat, is designed for both functionality and hygiene in the kitchen. Typically made from durable, breathable fabric, it features long sleeves to protect against heat and spills. The coat is usually white, symbolizing cleanliness, and may have a double-breasted design, allowing chefs to reverse it if stained.
Accompanying the coat, chefs wear aprons to shield their clothing from food splatters. They also don chef hats, known as toques, which help keep hair away from food and signify rank in the kitchen. Comfortable, non-slip shoes are essential for safety during long hours of cooking.
