Charlotte Salomon
Charlotte Salomon was a German-Jewish artist born in 1917, known for her unique and expressive style. She created a significant body of work during her short life, particularly her autobiographical series titled Life? or Theatre?, which combines painting, text, and music. This series reflects her personal experiences, including her family's history and the impact of the Nazi regime.
Salomon fled to France during World War II, where she continued to develop her art. Tragically, she was arrested and deported to Auschwitz in 1943, where she was killed at the age of 26. Her work has since gained recognition for its emotional depth and innovative approach.
