Charles Michel is a Belgian politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Belgium since October 2020. He is a member of the Francophone Liberal Reformist Party and previously held the position of Minister of Development Cooperation, Digitalization, and Telecommunications. Michel has been active in politics since a young age and has held various roles in the Belgian government. In addition to his role as Prime Minister, Charles Michel is also the President of the European Council, a position he has held since December 2019. In this capacity, he facilitates discussions among the leaders of the European Union member states and plays a key role in shaping EU policies and decisions.
