Charles Griffin (General)
Charles Griffin was a Union general during the American Civil War. He was born on March 15, 1825, in New York and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1847. Griffin played a significant role in several key battles, including the Battle of Gettysburg and the Siege of Petersburg, where his leadership contributed to Union victories.
After the war, Griffin continued his military career and served in various posts, including as a commander in the Department of Texas. He was known for his organizational skills and ability to lead troops effectively. Griffin passed away on December 14, 1885.
