Charles FitzWilliam, 2nd Earl of Southampton
Charles FitzWilliam, 2nd Earl of Southampton (c. 1664–1730), was an English nobleman and politician. He succeeded his father, Charles FitzWilliam, 1st Earl of Southampton, and held the title from 1689 until his death. He was known for his involvement in the House of Lords and his support of the Whig party during a time of political change in England.
In addition to his political career, the 2nd Earl was also a landowner and held significant estates, including Southampton House in London. His contributions to society included patronage of the arts and involvement in various charitable endeavors, reflecting the responsibilities of his noble status.
