Charles Blount
Charles Blount was an English philosopher and writer born in 1654. He is best known for his work in promoting free thought and skepticism, particularly regarding religious beliefs. Blount's most notable publication, "Oracles of Reason," challenged traditional religious doctrines and advocated for a rational approach to understanding the world.
In addition to his philosophical contributions, Blount was involved in the early development of the Deist movement, which emphasized reason and ethics over revealed religion. His ideas influenced later thinkers and contributed to the broader Enlightenment discourse on religion and morality. Blount passed away in 1693.
