Chares of Lindos was an ancient Greek sculptor from the island of Rhodes. He is best known for creating the Colossus of Rhodes, a massive statue that stood at the entrance of the harbor in Rhodes. This statue was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and symbolized the city's prosperity and strength.
The Colossus was constructed between 292 and 280 BC and depicted the sun god Helios. Standing approximately 33 meters tall, it was made of bronze and stone. Unfortunately, the statue was destroyed by an earthquake in 226 BC, but it remains a significant part of ancient history.
