Channel Tunnel Rail Link
The Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL), now known as the High Speed 1 (HS1), is a high-speed railway connecting London to the Channel Tunnel. This 108-kilometer (67-mile) line allows trains to travel between the UK and mainland Europe, significantly reducing travel time. It opened in 2003 and serves both domestic and international services, including the Eurostar trains.
The CTRL was built to enhance transportation links and promote economic growth. It features modern infrastructure, including dedicated tracks for high-speed trains, and has improved accessibility to cities like Paris and Brussels. The project was a significant investment in the UK's transport network.
