Challenger Point
Challenger Point is a prominent mountain located in the Sangre de Cristo Range of Colorado. It stands at an elevation of 14,197 feet (4,338 meters) and is known for its stunning views and challenging hiking trails. The peak is often climbed as part of a two-summit trek that includes its neighbor, Kit Carson Peak.
The mountain is named after the HMS Challenger, a British Royal Navy ship that conducted significant oceanographic research in the 19th century. Challenger Point is a popular destination for experienced hikers and climbers, offering a mix of rugged terrain and breathtaking scenery in the San Isabel National Forest.
