Chaine des Puys
The Chaîne des Puys is a volcanic mountain range located in the Auvergne region of central France. It consists of about 80 dormant volcanoes, formed over the last 95,000 years. The highest peak, Puy de Dôme, reaches an elevation of 1,465 meters and is a popular hiking destination.
This unique geological formation is part of the French Volcanic Province and is recognized for its diverse ecosystems and rich biodiversity. In 2018, the Chaîne des Puys was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, highlighting its natural beauty and geological significance.
