Ceratophrys
Ceratophrys, commonly known as horned frogs, are a genus of large, robust amphibians found primarily in South America. They are known for their distinctive horn-like projections above their eyes and their wide, flattened bodies. These frogs are primarily terrestrial and are often found in moist environments, such as forests and grasslands.
Horned frogs are carnivorous and have a voracious appetite, feeding on a variety of prey, including insects, small mammals, and other amphibians. They are known for their impressive camouflage, which helps them blend into their surroundings. The most well-known species is the Ceratophrys ornata, also called the Argentine horned frog.
