Central Electricity Regulatory Commission
The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) is an independent regulatory body in India, established under the Electricity Act of 2003. Its primary role is to regulate the electricity sector at the national level, ensuring fair pricing and promoting competition among electricity providers. CERC also sets tariffs for inter-state electricity transmission and oversees the functioning of the National Electricity Market.
CERC plays a crucial role in facilitating the growth of renewable energy sources and ensuring their integration into the national grid. It also addresses disputes between various stakeholders in the electricity sector, including state governments, power producers, and consumers, to maintain a balanced and efficient electricity supply system.
