Central Bank of Rwanda
The Central Bank of Rwanda, known as Banque Nationale du Rwanda (BNR), is the primary financial institution responsible for managing the country's monetary policy. Established in 1964, its main objectives include ensuring price stability, regulating the banking sector, and promoting financial inclusion. The BNR also oversees the issuance of the national currency, the Rwandan franc.
In addition to its monetary functions, the Central Bank plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability of the financial system. It supervises commercial banks and other financial institutions, ensuring they operate safely and soundly. The BNR also engages in research and analysis to support economic development in Rwanda.
