Cavaliers
Cavaliers were a group of supporters of King Charles I during the English Civil War in the 17th century. They were known for their loyalty to the monarchy and their opposition to the Parliamentarians, who sought to limit the king's power. The Cavaliers often wore long hair and elegant clothing, reflecting their aristocratic status.
The term "Cavalier" also refers to a style of horseman, as many of these supporters were skilled riders. They played a significant role in battles such as the Battle of Edgehill and the Battle of Naseby, where they fought for royalist causes against the Parliamentarian forces.
