Catostomidae
The family Catostomidae, commonly known as suckers, includes a diverse group of freshwater fish primarily found in North America. These fish are characterized by their fleshy, sucker-like mouths, which they use to feed on algae, detritus, and small invertebrates from the riverbed.
Suckers inhabit a variety of freshwater environments, including rivers, lakes, and streams. They play an important ecological role by helping to maintain the health of aquatic ecosystems. Some well-known species within this family include the white sucker and the longnose sucker.
