Catherine Helen Spence
Catherine Helen Spence (1825-1910) was an Australian author, political activist, and suffragist. Born in Melrose, Scotland, she emigrated to South Australia in 1839. Spence is known for her contributions to literature and her advocacy for social reform, particularly in education and women's rights. She was one of the first women to run for political office in Australia.
