Cartilages
Cartilages are flexible connective tissues found in various parts of the body, including the joints, nose, ears, and ribcage. They provide support and cushioning, allowing for smooth movement between bones. Unlike bone, cartilage is not as hard and is made up of a gel-like substance that helps absorb shock.
There are three main types of cartilage: hyaline cartilage, which is smooth and covers the ends of bones; elastic cartilage, which is more flexible and found in structures like the ear; and fibrocartilage, which is tough and provides support in areas like the spine and knee joints.
