Carstensz Pyramid
Carstensz Pyramid, also known as Puncak Jaya, is the highest peak in Oceania, standing at 4,884 meters (16,024 feet) above sea level. Located in the Papua Province of Indonesia, it is part of the Sudiman Range and is renowned for its challenging climbing routes and stunning views. The mountain is unique because it features a glacier, which is rare in tropical regions.
The first successful ascent of Carstensz Pyramid occurred in 1962, led by a team of climbers from Australia. It is one of the Seven Summits, a popular challenge among mountaineers who aim to climb the highest peak on each continent. The area surrounding the mountain is rich in biodiversity and home to various indigenous cultures.
