Carriage Return
A "Carriage Return" is a control character used in computing and typesetting that moves the cursor or print head to the beginning of a line. Originally, it referred to the action of returning the carriage of a typewriter to the starting position after completing a line of text. This action allows the typist to begin a new line without manually moving the paper.
In modern computing, the carriage return is often represented by the symbol CR and is used in programming and text formatting. It is commonly combined with a line feed character, represented as LF, to create a new line in text files, especially in systems like Windows.
