The Carpathia was a British ocean liner that gained fame for rescuing survivors from the Titanic disaster in April 1912. Built by the Cunard Line, it was launched in 1902 and primarily served transatlantic routes between Europe and North America.
After receiving the distress signal from the Titanic, the Carpathia rushed to the scene, arriving about an hour and a half after the ship sank. It successfully rescued 705 survivors and provided them with medical care and shelter. The ship continued to operate until it was sunk by a German U-boat during World War I in 1918.
