Carp Streamers
Carp Streamers, known as Koinobori in Japan, are colorful, carp-shaped flags traditionally flown to celebrate Children's Day on May 5th. These streamers symbolize the hope that children will grow up strong and healthy, much like the carp that swim upstream against strong currents.
Typically made from fabric or paper, Carp Streamers are often displayed outside homes, with the largest representing the father, followed by smaller ones for the mother and children. The vibrant colors and designs are meant to inspire and encourage children to pursue their dreams and overcome challenges, reflecting the resilience of the carp.
