Carotid Artery
The carotid artery is a major blood vessel located in the neck that supplies oxygen-rich blood to the brain, neck, and face. There are two main carotid arteries: the left and right, which branch off from the aorta and travel upward on either side of the neck.
Each carotid artery divides into two branches: the internal carotid artery, which supplies blood to the brain, and the external carotid artery, which supplies blood to the face and neck. Proper function of the carotid arteries is essential for maintaining adequate blood flow to the brain and preventing conditions like stroke.
