Carl Jacobsen
Carl Jacobsen was a Danish brewer and art collector, born on December 2, 1848. He was the son of the founder of the famous Carlsberg Brewery, which is one of the largest breweries in the world. Jacobsen played a significant role in expanding the brewery and promoting its international reputation.
In addition to his brewing success, Jacobsen was a passionate supporter of the arts. He established the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, an art museum in Copenhagen, which houses an impressive collection of sculptures and paintings, including works by renowned artists like Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. Jacobsen passed away on April 20, 1914.
