Caribbean monk seal
The Caribbean monk seal was a large marine mammal that lived in the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. It had a robust body, a short snout, and a thick layer of blubber to keep it warm. These seals primarily fed on fish and invertebrates and were known to inhabit coastal areas and small islands.
Unfortunately, the Caribbean monk seal was declared extinct in the late 20th century, primarily due to overhunting and habitat loss. Conservation efforts for other marine species continue, but the loss of this seal serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting marine ecosystems and wildlife.
