Cape fur seal
The Cape fur seal is a species of seal found along the southwestern coast of Africa. They are known for their thick fur, which is typically brown or gray, and their playful behavior. Adult males can weigh up to 300 kilograms, while females are smaller, averaging around 50 kilograms. These seals are social animals, often seen in large colonies on rocky shores.
Cape fur seals primarily feed on fish and squid, using their keen eyesight to hunt underwater. They are excellent swimmers, capable of diving to depths of 200 meters in search of food. Their population is currently stable, but they face threats from fishing activities and climate change.
