Canyon Dam
Canyon Dam is a concrete gravity dam located on the North Fork of the Feather River in Butte County, California. Completed in 1963, it was built primarily for flood control, water supply, and hydroelectric power generation. The dam creates Lake Almanor, a popular recreational area for fishing, boating, and camping.
The dam stands 130 feet tall and stretches 1,700 feet across. It has a total capacity of approximately 1.3 million acre-feet of water. Operated by the U.S. Forest Service, Canyon Dam plays a crucial role in managing water resources and maintaining ecological balance in the region.
