Canute IV of Denmark
Canute IV of Denmark, also known as Canute the Holy, was a king who ruled from 1080 until his death in 1086. He was a member of the House of Knýtlinga and is remembered for his efforts to strengthen the Danish monarchy and promote Christianity in Denmark. His reign was marked by conflicts with the nobility and attempts to centralize power.
Canute IV was canonized as a saint after his death, largely due to his pious lifestyle and martyrdom. His feast day is celebrated on July 19. His legacy includes the promotion of the Christian faith in Scandinavia and the establishment of a more unified Danish state.
