Cancellation (Nullification)
Cancellation, also known as nullification, refers to the legal process of declaring a contract or agreement void. This means that the contract is treated as if it never existed, and the parties involved are released from their obligations. Cancellation can occur for various reasons, such as mutual consent, breach of contract, or the presence of fraud.
In some cases, cancellation can also apply to laws or regulations. For instance, a state may attempt to nullify a federal law it deems unconstitutional. This concept is often associated with historical events, such as the Nullification Crisis in the United States during the early 19th century.
