Camphill Movement
The Camphill Movement is an international network of communities that support individuals with intellectual disabilities. Founded in the 1940s by Karl König in Scotland, it emphasizes a holistic approach to care, integrating education, work, and social life. Residents, often referred to as "co-workers," live alongside those with disabilities, fostering mutual support and understanding.
These communities are characterized by their commitment to creating a nurturing environment where everyone can contribute and thrive. Activities often include arts, crafts, farming, and other vocational pursuits, promoting personal development and social inclusion. The movement is inspired by anthroposophy, a philosophy developed by Rudolf Steiner.
