Calvert Vaux was an influential American architect and landscape designer, best known for his role in the creation of Central Park in New York City. Born in 1824 in England, he moved to the United States in 1850, where he collaborated with Frederick Law Olmsted to design the park, which became a model for urban parks worldwide.
In addition to his work on Central Park, Vaux contributed to various other projects, including the design of Prospect Park in Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. His innovative approach to landscape architecture emphasized the integration of natural beauty with urban environments.
