Caliban
Caliban is a character from William Shakespeare's play, "The Tempest." He is depicted as a deformed and savage creature, the son of a witch named Sycorax. Caliban represents the theme of colonization, as he is the original inhabitant of the island where the play takes place, and he is subjugated by Prospero, the play's protagonist.
Throughout the play, Caliban struggles with his identity and his desire for freedom. He initially attempts to assert his rights to the island but ultimately becomes a servant to Prospero. His character raises questions about civilization, nature, and the complexities of power dynamics in human relationships.
