Calhoun College
Calhoun College was one of the residential colleges at Yale University, located in New Haven, Connecticut. Established in 1917, it was named after John C. Calhoun, a 19th-century politician and advocate for states' rights. The college provided a community for undergraduate students, offering various academic and social activities.
In 2017, Calhoun College was renamed to Grace Hopper College in honor of Grace Hopper, a pioneering computer scientist and U.S. Navy rear admiral. The renaming aimed to reflect a commitment to diversity and inclusion, moving away from the controversial legacy associated with its original namesake.
