Cairn of Maeve
The Cairn of Maeve is a prehistoric burial mound located on the summit of Knocknarea in County Sligo, Ireland. It is believed to date back to around 3000 BC and is associated with the legendary figure Queen Maeve, a prominent character in Irish mythology. The cairn is made up of large stones and is approximately 40 meters in diameter.
The site is part of a larger complex of ancient monuments in the area, which includes other burial mounds and standing stones. Visitors can hike to the top of Knocknarea to view the cairn, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the nearby Atlantic Ocean.
