CARES Act
The CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) is a federal law enacted in March 2020 to provide economic relief during the COVID-19 pandemic. It allocated approximately $2.2 trillion to support individuals, businesses, and healthcare systems affected by the crisis. Key provisions included direct payments to individuals, expanded unemployment benefits, and loans for small businesses through the Paycheck Protection Program.
Additionally, the CARES Act aimed to enhance healthcare resources by funding hospitals and medical facilities. It also included provisions for student loan relief and support for various sectors, such as airlines and education, to help stabilize the economy during unprecedented challenges.
