C2H6O (Ethanol)
C2H6O, commonly known as ethanol, is a colorless, volatile liquid that is widely used as a solvent, in the manufacture of beverages, and as a fuel additive. It is an organic compound with the chemical formula C2H6O, consisting of two carbon atoms, six hydrogen atoms, and one oxygen atom. Ethanol is produced naturally through the fermentation of sugars by yeast and can also be synthesized from petrochemical feedstocks.
Ethanol is a key ingredient in alcoholic beverages, such as beer and wine, and is often used in hand sanitizers and disinfectants due to its antimicrobial properties. In the automotive industry, it is blended with gasoline to create gasohol, which helps reduce emissions and improve octane ratings.
