C/2006 N1
C/2006 N1 is a long-period comet that was discovered on July 13, 2006. It is part of the Oort Cloud, a distant region of our solar system that contains many icy bodies. This comet has an elongated orbit that takes it far from the Sun, making it visible from Earth only once every several hundred years.
The comet reached its closest approach to the Sun, known as perihelion, on January 12, 2007. During this time, it became bright enough to be observed with small telescopes. C/2006 N1 is classified as a non-periodic comet, meaning it does not have a predictable return path like Halley's Comet.
