Buckler
A buckler is a small, round shield that was commonly used in the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Typically made of wood or metal, it is designed to be lightweight and easily maneuverable, allowing the user to deflect blows while maintaining the ability to wield a weapon, such as a sword. Bucklers often featured a central grip on the back, enabling the user to hold it in one hand.
In addition to its practical use in combat, the buckler also served as a symbol of personal defense and skill. It was often used in conjunction with various fighting styles, including rapier dueling and swordsmanship. The buckler's compact size made it ideal for close-quarters combat, where agility and speed were essential.
