Brush Turkey
The Brush Turkey, also known as the Australian Brush-turkey, is a large bird native to the rainforests of eastern Australia. It is recognized for its striking black plumage and bright yellow wattle on its neck. These birds are ground-dwelling and are known for their unique nesting behavior, where they build large mounds of decomposing vegetation to incubate their eggs.
Brush Turkeys are part of the Megapodiidae family, which includes other mound-building birds. They primarily feed on fruits, seeds, and insects found on the forest floor. Their role in the ecosystem includes seed dispersal, contributing to the health of their rainforest habitat.
