Bruno Hauptmann
Bruno Hauptmann was a German immigrant who became infamous for his involvement in the kidnapping and murder of the infant son of Charles Lindbergh, a famous aviator, in 1932. The case captured national attention and was dubbed the "Crime of the Century." Hauptmann was arrested in 1934 after evidence linked him to the crime, including a ransom note and a portion of the ransom money found in his possession.
In 1935, Hauptmann was tried and convicted of first-degree murder. His trial was highly publicized, featuring sensational media coverage and public interest. Despite his claims of innocence and appeals for a retrial, he was executed in 1936, leaving a lasting impact on American criminal justice and media.
