Brugada Syndrome
Brugada Syndrome is a genetic heart condition that can cause dangerous irregular heartbeats, known as arrhythmias. It is often identified by specific patterns on an electrocardiogram (ECG), particularly a characteristic "coved-type" ST-segment elevation in the right precordial leads. This syndrome can lead to fainting, seizures, or even sudden cardiac arrest, especially in young adults.
The condition is more common in males and can be triggered by factors such as fever, certain medications, or excessive alcohol consumption. While there is no cure, treatment options include lifestyle changes, medications, and the implantation of a cardioverter-defibrillator to manage the risk of life-threatening arrhythmias.
