Bromocriptine
Bromocriptine is a medication primarily used to treat conditions related to high levels of the hormone prolactin, such as prolactinomas and certain types of infertility. It works by mimicking the action of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that helps regulate various bodily functions, including hormone release.
In addition to its use for prolactin disorders, bromocriptine is also prescribed for Parkinson's disease and type 2 diabetes. By stimulating dopamine receptors, it can help improve motor control in Parkinson's patients and enhance insulin sensitivity in those with diabetes.
