Brocken
The Brocken is the highest peak in the Harz Mountains of northern Germany, standing at 1,141 meters (3,743 feet) above sea level. It is located in the Harz National Park and is a popular destination for hikers and tourists. The mountain is known for its unique weather phenomena, including frequent fog and the "Brocken spectre," an optical illusion that creates a shadow of a person surrounded by a rainbow-like halo.
The Brocken has a rich cultural history, often associated with folklore and legends, including connections to Walpurgis Night and the witches of the region. A historic steam train, the Brockenbahn, takes visitors to the summit, where they can enjoy panoramic views and visit the Brockenhaus, a museum dedicated to the mountain's natural history and cultural significance.
