British West Indies
The British West Indies refers to a group of islands in the Caribbean that were once colonies of the United Kingdom. This region includes countries such as Jamaica, Barbados, and the Bahamas, among others. The British established control over these islands during the 17th and 18th centuries, primarily for sugar production and trade.
Today, many of these islands are independent nations, while others remain British Overseas Territories. The British West Indies is known for its rich cultural heritage, beautiful beaches, and vibrant tourism industry. The region's history has significantly shaped its diverse population and traditions.
