British Mandate Palestine
The term "British Mandate Palestine" refers to the period from 1920 to 1948 when the United Kingdom governed the region of Palestine under a mandate from the League of Nations. This mandate aimed to establish a national home for the Jewish people while also safeguarding the rights of the existing Arab population.
During this time, tensions grew between Jewish and Arab communities, leading to conflicts and political unrest. The British administration struggled to balance these competing national aspirations, ultimately leading to the end of the mandate and the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948.
