British Columbia Electric Railway
The British Columbia Electric Railway (BCER) was a major electric railway system in British Columbia, Canada, established in the early 20th century. It primarily served the Vancouver area and connected various communities, facilitating transportation and commerce. The railway operated streetcars and interurban trains, playing a crucial role in the region's development.
In 1962, the BCER was absorbed into the BC Hydro utility company, marking the end of its independent operations. Today, remnants of the railway's history can be seen in the form of preserved streetcars and historical sites, reflecting its significance in the evolution of public transit in British Columbia.
