Bristlecone Pines
Bristlecone Pines are some of the oldest living trees in the world, primarily found in the western United States, particularly in the White Mountains of California. These trees can live for thousands of years, with some individuals estimated to be over 4,800 years old. Their twisted, gnarled appearance is a result of harsh environmental conditions, including strong winds and poor soil.
These trees thrive in high-altitude areas, often at elevations above 9,800 feet. Bristlecone Pines are well-adapted to survive extreme temperatures and limited moisture. Their dense, resinous wood is resistant to decay, allowing them to endure for centuries despite their challenging surroundings.
