Brigid (Goddess)
Brigid is a goddess from Celtic mythology, primarily associated with Ireland. She is revered as the goddess of fire, poetry, healing, and fertility. Brigid is often linked to the arrival of spring and is celebrated during the festival of Imbolc, which marks the beginning of the lambing season and the return of light.
In addition to her role as a goddess, Brigid is also considered a saint in Christianity, known as Saint Brigid of Kildare. This duality reflects the blending of pagan and Christian traditions in Ireland. Her legacy continues to influence modern celebrations and practices, particularly in Wicca and other neopagan traditions.
