Brazilian War of Independence
The Brazilian War of Independence occurred between 1822 and 1824, marking Brazil's separation from Portugal. The conflict began when tensions rose over the demand for independence, fueled by the influence of the Napoleonic Wars and the return of the Portuguese royal family to Europe.
Led by Dom Pedro I, the son of the Portuguese king, Brazil declared independence on September 7, 1822. The war involved several battles, including the notable Battle of ItororĂ³, and concluded with Brazil's victory, solidifying its status as an independent nation by 1824.
